Has anyone tried adding a couple cans of pumpkin pie filling to a pumpkin ale recipe?

I have an extract kit from NB and wanted to make it a bigger beer.

My concerns are that the finished product may be uber cloudy or have particulate matter floating about...?

    Thoughts?

LOL. I only laugh because a) you just opened Pandora's box and b) there are literally thousands of posts with this exact title. You really should use the search function before you post a question.

But, because I can't stand when members respond to questions like I just did and leave it...

I wouldn't use "pumpkin pie filling.". Depending on the brand, there already may be condensed milk, sugar, or spices in it. I religiously use canned pumpkin, however. This has the same consistency as filling, it's just pure pumpkin. Most recipes call for around 60oz. I've used as little as 28oz and as much as 72oz. The biggest difference is in the color, but at 72oz there is an undeniable vegetal pumpkin flavor.

You say this is an extract kit. I stay away from pumpkin in the boil as you lose a ton of liquid in the pumpkin. So, if this truly is all extract, I would probably stay away (although many would argue with me) but if you are actually doing any steeping, steep your grains with the pumpkin and it will turn out great!

Add your spices to the boil.
