    All-Grain - Tits-Up Imperial IPA (3-Time Medalist - 2 Golds, 1 Silver)

Looking to brew a speciality grain steep / extract version of the acclaimed Tits Up IPA by Biermuncher
The BM recipe posted at the link above is
The plan for a steep/ extract version at 5.25 gal starting batch size (looking for right at 5gal at kegging time) is...

Steep grains for 60 min 4 gal water
    1.00 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM
    1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM)
1.00 oz Columbus (Tomahawk) (FWH) [14.20%]
    Sparge 1.5 gal water
    Add
2lbs Sparkling Amber DME (briess) (10L)
    .75lb corn sugar
    1.00 oz Nugget [13.8%] (45 min)
    1.00 oz Centennial [12.50%] (30 min)
    1.00 oz Cascade [7.20%] (15 min)
6lbs sparkling Amber DME (briess) (10L) (20 min)
    .85 oz Centennial [12.50%] (10 min)
    .85 oz Amarillo Gold [12.50%] (10 min)
    1.00 oz Mount Hood [6.50%] (10 min)
    Chill to 65deg f
Top to 5.25 gal as needed

Mix and aerate with 2 min O2 @ .75 lpm
Pitch 22 grams (two packs) rehydrated Safale US-05
Ferment 16deg c 15 days or until SG stops dropping
    Then Dry Hop with
.50 oz Summit [16.30%] (Dry Hop 14 days)
1.15 oz Amarillo Gold [8.90%] (Dry Hop 14 days)
1.15 oz Cascade [7.20%] (Dry Hop 14 days)
1.15 oz Centennial [12.50%] (Dry Hop 14 days)

Anyone think Im close to the BM AG recipe for his Titsup IPA?
    EST SRM 10.6
EST IBU 156 (but will be less as I do a 4 gal boil)

    Input? Suggestions?

    Thanks

well it's brewed now,,,,, so thanks anyway

OG 1.081.. bit more than the Est.. but it had a lot of fine hop material in it...

few weeks and we will see what it's at.

I usually have some FWH or 60 min for bittering, but if your IBU calcs are where you want then enjoy!

Also I add extract at 20 min left in boil, just didn't see when you added yours.

I'm not positive you need a 60 min steep since there is no mash, but it didn't hurt.

    Thanks

I had 1 oz of Columbus (Tomahawk) 14.2% for FWH

and I do a 20/80 % for DME in the boil/ late addition.

So 2lb went in at the start of boil.. 6lb went in at 40 min (20 remaining)

The 60 Min steep is what most of the recipes I have used show, so even when i do one on my own,, i sue 60... needed? not sure, but it does not seem to be hurting the end product.

Though few seemed interested in this steeping specialty grain / extract adaption ... I figured I would close out this thread should someone come across it some day...

TitsUpIPA as brewed above ****ING ROCKS... Served too more than a dozen folks, all raved on it's flavor, hoppyness, mouth feel and color. :D

This adaptation is a winner and will be brewed again :mug:

Awesome! Just what I was looking for! Thanks!

Question: Did you add any top up water or is this recipe for a 3 gallon batch?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that you said it is 5 gallons. Thanks.
