So the wife has officially kicked my brewing hobby out of the spare bedroom. She thinks the baby will want it's own room that doesn't smell like beer. I tried to tell her any child of mine wouldn't mind the spell of fermenting beer, but that arguement didn't go to well.

Luckily we just got a new kitchen table and the old one is in my brewing hobby's new home, the garage. I also just picked up a pretty large chest freezer off Craigslist. I think my only real option is to turn it into a fermentation chamber. Here it Kansas we'll hit 100F or more every day for about 1-3 weeks strait during the summer and 0 or colder several times during the winter.

My thought though is to possibly stick a nice double layer of insulation down the middle of it and possibly use it as a keggarator AND fermentation chamber. Can I put kegs and compressor on the cooling element side and then block off the two halves with some insulation. Then cut a hole in the insulation for a temp controlled computer fan and blammo.. instant dual purpose chest.

Anyone ever tried this before? I'm I nuts? Any big gaping holes in this plan that I'm oblivious to?

KC didn't do this with a freezer, but he built one that has two chambers.

    Check it out.
