It's decision time for me. I have a batch of Honey Mosaic Double IPA in mid boil right now. I'm a bit unfamiliar with Omega OYL-052 DIPA yeast and I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with it.

I put this starter on about 2 days ago, stepped it up last night. This starter doesn't seem to have milky/creamy look as 1056 and I'm not seeing a lot in the way of krausen. I do see some condensation, but It just doesn't look right and I'm not sure if it's active enough.

I had the pack sitting in my refrigerator for a while (april 2015) so viability could be an issue but the starter usually helps with that.

I'm wondering if I should punt and head up to the homebrew store and grab a couple smackpacks to pitch later today or stay the course with the Omega yeast. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You stepped it up? What did the first step look like? How long did it take? That gives you some reference.

It looked about like this when I stepped it up. I just added an additional quart of starter wort to the flask yesterday afternoon

stay the course, have faith! if there isn't any action you could pitch something else later. I haven't used that strain, but i like Omega Yeast! Btw, here is a similar thread to read and decide on your own: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=549053
