Obnoxious Football Trash Talk Thread

Wow. This on the heels of that Steelers coach getting burned in the house fire make teh pigskin seem so less relevant....

 

Yeah, it sucks. They found the body a few hours ago, but hadn't had a positive ID yet. Obviously, they have done that now. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

 

You don't need much ice to fish. You need to realize that Lake Winnebago is a huge lake, and it doesn't need to be frozen over to ice fish. You just walk out instead of taking your ATV or car or truck.
BUT, you need to know where you can or can't go. You don't go anywhere near the mouth of a river or creek, and you DEFINITELY don't go ON the river or creek. When you hear about folks going through the ice, it invariably because they went where it wasn't safe.

Plus, early ice (and late ice) is the best fishing. But it is also the most dangerous. I know plenty of people that have has very close calls. As I said, you just have to know where you can and can't go, and usually it is only the locals that know where that is. And not even all of the locals know.

My heart goes out to the Philbin family.

 

Sad news. Going on a river is always iffy. But in this warm weather really a bad idea. Did they say how old he was? Looked like 17-18 or so.

But you do to stay on top of the water. There is no fish that is worth dieing (hypothermia and drowning in near freezing water no less) for or having your vehicle at the bottom of a lake.

I do not care when the best fishing is, the DNR should have the power to open and close bodies of water in the winter for ice fishing at will. (Not that they are good at anything in this state.)

For the record, I am an avid ice fisherman and love the sport. However when it comes to the ice I am not the 1st one on nor am I the last one off. It's fish not some lost golden treasure and FWIW I love me some shore/lake lunch.

If he would have jumped in after him they would be fishing 2 bodies out of the water not just one. But he could have gone closer to see if the guy was near shore or a bridge so that perhaps he could have tossed him a line or something. Not that there would have been much time at those water temps.

No freakin' way!!!! The DNR has too much power already and they are not smart enough to tie their own shoelaces, much less tell others when they can go on the ice or when they have to get off.

I have no problem with NOLA, abita just happened to be the best thing I could find on bourbon st. It was either that, bud light, or hand grenades and hurricanes and I'm not planning on having another one of those nights.
