I am currently working on my first partial mash batch and was just wondering if I should remove all of the foamy cakey stuff around the rim of my pot ???

You can remove it or leave it. Some people skim the hot break and others do not. It will mostly precipitate out over the fermentation and conditioning process.

Some people scoop it out. I leave it. It's protein and might help with head retention.
