:tank:Like the title says, I need to brew tomorrow and only have 2 oz hops and no HB store for miles and miles.

Anything creative suggestions on pumping this one up?

I have a bunch of rosemary out in the yard?

I'm going for something light and crisp for my BMC friends and the lawnmower operator (me.)

    So far I have

    6lbs 2-row
    1lb carafoam
    1lb flaked rice
    1oz cascade
    1oz saaz
    us-05

    BIAB, if it matters.

    Thanks in advance

I just made a blonde ale that only uses 2oz in a 10 gallon batch. You have plenty of hops for a blonde or cream ale.

None of my beers have much more than 2 oz of hops in them. You could go with a irish red ale, a stout, a porter, maybe a malty amber.

Throw in a pound of instant grits and you'll have biermunchers cream of three crops. 2 ounces will be fine. Use the cascade to bitter and throw the saaz in at 10.

I'd be more worried about the amount of base malt, for a 5 gallon batch, looks a little light to me. Total grain bill is only 8 lbs, I'd be looking for more like 10-12 lbs total. But that being said, looks like a cream ale to me.

If you need to squeeze a few more ibu's out of those hops you could increase your boil time:mug:

The critical bit of information that's missing is the Alpha Acid % for the hops you do have. Can't really critique a recipe or make suggestions without it. Your recipe is almost the same as Cream of Three Crops, If you're going for something like that and your IBUs are 14~18 I think you'll be right on for a BMC\lawn-mower type cream ale. I'd use the cascade for bittering and a little of the saaz late for aroma\flavor (skip the late addition if you're really going for a BMC ).

Oops, ah, what JRems said (already).

I think I'm going with the suggestion of throwing in a lb of instant grits for a cream of three crops kinda outcome.

With 9lbs on my grain bill now, what would be my final water volume if I'm doing a BIAB?

    Thanks in advance

Yeah I would say blonde or cream w current grainbill. For cream I would use .5oz Cascade at 60 and use .5oz Cascade 10, .5oz the Saaz at 10 too.
    For a blonde I would keep .5oz Cascade @ 60. .5oz Cascade @ 15, 1oz Saaz @ 15.

But this is kinda blind... I don't know what your efficiency is or your AA ratio's are.

Yeah I know. This is my first all grain BAIB, so I don't expect much in the effeciency arena. I have a pound of cara-pils, but Im already using carafoam, so i done think it's a good idea t throw that in there. I was going with a full 7 gallons. Should I go with less water?

There's a BIAB water volume calculator around here somewhere. Remember that your starting gravity will affect how your hops are utilized. A lower then calculated OG with the same amount of hops will produce a higher IBU total.

In regards to the water volume for boil, it really depends on how much you want to end up with when all is said and done. I generally shoot for 5.25 to 5.5 to makeup for losses in trub/evaporation/etc. 6.5ga might be better, that's also dependent on how much you boil off. A good rule of thumb is between 1ga and 1.25ga hr.
