So my freezer which I hope to convert into a keezer is only 16-inches wide. It would be nice to be able to serve commercial beer but I don't think most 1/2 barrel kegs are going to fit.

I am wondering if there would be any major issues with just hooking the commercial keg to my cornies and and transferring the beer over?

Not sure what issues you may run into, but why not just but 1/6 kegs

I am assuming the smaller kegs are less available and would cost more per serving, is that not necessarily the case?

Well, more per serving yes but I guess it depends on what commercials you're talking about. I wouldn't want 15 gallons of most beers sitting around. Other than the "why", the only thing you have to do is get a sanke coupler so you can connect it to the liquid side of your destination kegs.

A lot of the craft brews are in 1/6 because most people won't pay for a 1/2 of them.
