I got a Mr. Beer kit for christmas and have since upgraded to my 6.5 gal setup. The other day I realized that I still have one more of those hopped liquid malt can things for the mr. beer. I have read on the forums that people use DME instead of that booster which sounds like a great idea. Just a few questions: how much and which kind of DME should I use? I was just thinking to use light DME, but im not sure how much should be used for the standard mr. beer 2 gallon batch.

    :edit:
also, i was thinking of upgrading from the yeast that is supplied with the kit. i am thinking of going with Nottingham since that seems to be the standard around here, but any suggestions there would be appreciated

Use a pound of light dry malt extract. Boil the dry malt extract a gallon of water for 10 minutes then add 1/4-1/2 oz or so of hops and boil for another 10 minutes to add some hop flavor to it. Hallertau hops would be yummy. Nottingham or Safale 05 would do the trick.
