I need some opinions. After hacking at my mini's door, i have exposed the insulation foam. Can this foam stay exposed? Or does it have to be covered? What have others done in order to cover it up? I tried duct tape but it came unglued after a few hours. I need some ideas here. View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1489892321.825671.jpg

"In my opinion " with no experience with that particular issue I would probably tape off the door seal and use that flex seal spray, maybe a couple coats. That may help keep it from making a unending mess wit crumbling foam.
Depending on how extensive your labrewatory is... maybe screw or rivet a very thin plywood panel to the now inside edges of the hard plastic. Good luck Partagas.

That would make a good place for mould to grow, and its hard to clean. Cover it with a sheet of plastic, I used plastic signage board on mine.

You can mix up some casting resin and just flow it over the foam. Let it sit for a day and you will have a plastic panel over the foam

You can get fiberglass sheets at the home improvement stores. You can use a piece of countertop laminate.(Maybe check for cutoffs...)

I would test a spot before committing to using anything that cures. It might melt the foam before it cures. Solvents and foams often do not get along.

I used some self-adhesive padded foil duct insulation you can buy in a roll at home depot. I had it laying around from when I needed to insulate some patchy AC/duct insulation. Probably overkill, but I wanted to make sure the foam was protected from nicks and dings.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went with a thin piece of fiberglass and sealed the edges with silicone. However my 6.5 gallon big mouth bubbler still needs a little nudge and squeeze to be able to fit in. Im currently fermenting in it and closing the door with a little help from one of those pressure joint bars ( the name scapes me right now) i think that eventually im going to have to remove it, scrape a little deeper into the foam and i liked the suggestion of a resin cast for it.
