    Greetings,

While boiling the wort for my first batch of Maibock, I seem to have only added 1/2 of the DME. My 10 year old Labrador Retriever had absconded with one of the packages. I read that I can use the Dried Malt Extract to prime on bottling day. Is this advisable?

    Thanks,

    Dan

You can, but I don't really understand the connection. Are you just asking because you don't want to waste the DME? Priming with DME won't make up for the fact that the beer had a much lower than expected OG.

Sounds like a great way to create bottle bombs.

You can use DME to prime, but definately don't use the other half of the DME that is missing out of your recipe. You can use a much smaller quantity, somewhere between 3-5oz. to prime with.

Did your dig eat the other half?
