I am looking at getting one of these for temp controlled Fermentation, and unfortunately I don't have any carboys with me to see how many would fit in there at one time. Anyone know by chance? It's 6.9 cu ft, but there is a step inside of it that may limit a second carboy. If anyone knows by chance, please let me know. Checking out the freezer on Craigslist this evening I think.

Or! Does anyone know the diameter of a 6.5 gallon carboy? As well as height?

Just go to any online homebrew retailer and find the carboy you have, they'll have dimensions listed.

    I think it's 1 unless you add a collar....then it's 2 6.5 gal bucket fermenters

I was looking at this last night. I decided I didn't want to build a collar and I'd prefer 2 fermenters and maybe a corny fit in the bottom which looks like I need at least a 7.2

I have a 7 CU ft and it can 4 hold kegs with no problem. 3 on the floor would fit without a collar, hope that can help.

Dumb question now, what is a collar? Just some 2x4's between the lid and body of the freezer?

My 7.0 GE fits two BSG 7.8 gallon buckets with airlocks. One down low and one on the step up.

It will also fit one glass carboy down low, and bucket on the step.

These combos are both without a collar. The BSG buckets are fatter and shorter than normal 6 gallon buckets though which is why I love them.

I just got the exact one for a ferm chamber and I have 2 glass 6.5 carboys in there, with air locks, and they fit as is, no need for a collar

a little bigger than a 2x4 but wood that goes between the lid and body of the freezer to give room for kegs and taps. There is a good sticky with a lot of freezer and their sizes inside so you will know what will fit.
