    Hi everyone,

I am working on a 3 vessel brewing system based on half barrel kegs and am looking for someone in central Iowa capable of doing TIG welding, hole cutting, and related metalwork on the three keggles. The work would involve drilling holes on the kegs, welding 1/2" Tri Clamp ferrules to 1/2" OD SS tubing, etc. If anyone can offer these services, please let me know. I'm located in Ames, Iowa.

    Thanks!

Have you called Howe Welding or Custom Steel in Ames. Not sure if they can do what you need but they should point you in the right direction.

I have looked into a few local welding shops, and thus far I have found the price quotes quite prohibitive. One of the price quotes I got made buying three new 30 gallon Blichmann kettles a cheaper option.

I thought you may have contacted those local guys. I hoped if they didn't want the work, they might suggest someone else.

Have you tried the home brew club based in Des Moines: Iowa Brewers Union. They may know somebody that do that work as a DIY.

If those ferrule-to-tube welds can ship in a box to PA, then I can weld them for you. Flat rate boxes are a wonderful thing.

I'm currently building a 3 vessel eHERMS system and I'm going to have a guy I work with do the stainless welding for me. I'm sure he'd be willing to give you a good deal if your willing to travel a little north to Mason City. I also know the welding instructor at North Iowa Area Community College and he said he'd weld my couplers for me too if you wanted to go that route...
