Any recommendations? I'm looking for a hop that could be used to provide a subtle pine aroma.

    Maybe Chinook or Ahtanum?

A piney hop and subtle pine are two entirely different things. A piney hop would be something like Columbus or Simcoe. But 1 oz. of either used late in an IPA would be less piney than 3 oz. of Centennial or Chinook.

You not only have to know your hops' character, but also how much is needed and when to add them in order to contribute the desired flavors/aromas. Ahtanum is all funky orange spice and mild grapefruit to me. Not much pine.

Understandable on the amount/length of boil. Just curious as to which hops lend any kind of pine characteristic as opposed to something like Citra...which has none.

All four of the above hops I mentioned in the first paragraph have piney traits.
