CAn anyone tell me what kind of extract beer i can brew that will give me a nice creamy head and good body. Just a simple one as im still learning and have only done 4 lager brews so far but want something thiker, tasty with a good creamy head that stays and gives you the rings around the glass as you sip it... Any ideas or recipes?? Cheers

Ok no worries.. Ive bever actrully had stout before... But im willing to give anything a go as i love most types of beers...

If a creamy head is what you're looking for this is a beer you must try. Not sure you'll get the lacing (head sticking to glass) though.

Stout is the best style by far IMO, and there is so much you can do to them. coffee, chocolate, oatmeal, vanilla, .....

I've gotten thick head from many different beers. Stout the least of them. It's more a function of protiens in the beer driven by carbonation to an extent. I've gotten it from 1-2 weeks in the fridge, depending on style. but two weks fridge time gives thicker head & longer lasting carbonation. co2 absorption isn't that fast.
So a good recipe, good process,& patience will all lend to good head & carbonation if patience & cleanliness is also used.

Or you could switch to all-grain and have great head retention by using a small amount of carapils, any caramel malt, golden naked oats, or any flaked adjunct. Plus there's tons of freedom when making your wort.
