    Hello,

Sorry if this has already been asked or documented somewhere, but I did a bunch of searching and looked at a lot of keezer builds and couldn't find my answer. My chest freezer is a 21 cu ft, and I'm designing mine off of these builds:

    electrichead's build
    SixthGear's build
    b18turboef build

I'm getting ready to build the collar and last night after looking at the chest freezer, a possible issue came up. As you can see from the pictures below, the part that the collar will sit on isn't flat. I don't know what you call this, hence searching for an answer has been difficult. All the other builds I've looked at, theirs seem to be flat. After looking at how the lid sits on it, it seems that the weather stripping just sits on top of the bump. I was planning on doing a dual hinge setup for collar and lid, and I was planning on using 1"x10" piece of oak for the front part of the collar. I was then going to place some weather stripping under the collar just like what the lid has already. I'm afraid that even with the weather stripping under the collar, it isn't going to sit flush on the chest freezer because of the bump. As anyone else come across this, or am I just worrying about nothing?

I put rubberized weather stripping on the bottom of my collar and mainly gravity keeps it in place. Others have used silicone. Others still have ground or sanded that part off first. Choices, choices.

I hope the rubberized weather stripping works, I don't really want to alter the chest freezer in any way. Thanks for the info.

I used a foam insulation found at lowes that is 3/8" thick if I recall. The foam insulation formed around any bumps I had and seals great.

Sorry I didn't mean insulation, I meant weatherstripping.
