Transferring a batch of Vanilla Porter off of the beans and I saw what I THOUGHT was the beginnings of an infection! Looked white, a little webby, worrisome. After closer inspection, I'm PRETTY sure that it was a combination of Star-San/oil/bean residue that was floating on top. Regardless, I plan on kegging in a few days, so here's hoping I'm right!

I think you'll be fine, I don't remember any issues like that with the one vanillia porter I did. I didn't take any steps to prevent infection, just added two split beans to my secondary. Some of them sat in bottles for several months and didn't turn into gushers.
