I was thinking on building an ice box for two corney kegs and the only source for keeping them cool would be of course ice. What i was going to do was build a frame with 2x4 studs and fully insulate it and put concrete siding on the exterior. The lid would be done with a 1x4 frame and insulated and the top would also have concrete siding. The inside liner would be a thin guage stainless steal that i would make into a square box and water tight. At the bottom of the liner from the inside to the outside i would put some sort of a nipple to a 1/2 stainless ball valve outside of the ice box so you can drain the water out of it without having to tip it on it's side. The back of it would have a 1x4 box for storing cups and the co2 bottle. And finally it would be on casters and have 2 perlicks on the side of it. Just wanted to know if anyone has made something sort of like this and would it be practical.

    Thanx

I use an icebox. It is a mini-fridge with all the mechanicals stripped out. I can fit 1 corny keg and 2 1-gallon milk jugs filled with ice. It gets the beer down to 55F, which is the way I like it.

So you just want a semi-mobile cooler for occasional use then?

Exactly, mobile so i don't have to worry about a compresor and just use ice and it would get occasional use.

A jockey box is sounding more logical, the thing is i don't know to much about them. I think i would rather use a coil set up then the plate, i'm sure you could fit more beer in the coil than the plate i would imagine. The thing on jockey boxes i'm a little lost on does the keg have to be cold, i know the faster you drink i'm sure it wouldn't be as cold. Also if the beer doesn't need to be cold how long would it last without being chilled.
