    Cover the top loosely with painters plastic, seran wrap or a clear trash bag to keep the tops from drying out.

    What is the goal or purpose of placing the cuttings in the beer bottles? Why don't you just plant them in the ground? The water doesn't contain any nutrients, and very little oxygen, which is why the cuttings are slowly dying.
