I am drinking ale today

The Glory of Intoxication

Alcohol und Nikotine
Rafft die Halbe Menschheit hin

I didn't know Edgar Allen Poe spoke German.

I agree about the alcohol but not so much the smoking. I don't have anything against it, but I never really felt like humanity couldn't live without it.

 

Poe belonged to another age. I wasn't there, but I can imagine that sentiment was different then in some regards.

 

"What care I how time advances
I am drinking ale today"

...and these words are inscribed on a brass plaque attached to my brew ladder.

 

Truly? That's cool. Very fitting quote.
