hey i been playing around with the recipe as had gotten my hands on falconer's flight hops... with what i had at home here is what i brewed today... any have an opinion on this??

    here is the extract recipe:

1 lb - two row lovibund
    4 oz - cara pils/dextrine

    steep - 160 degree 20 minutes

4 lbs - pilsner light DME
    2 lbs - amber DME

    60 min - warrior pellets 1oz
    15 min - falconer s flight 1 oz
flame out - falconer s flight 1 oz

    yeast - american ale

plan to leave in primary for one week then transfer to secondary for a week - two weeks dry-hopping it with another oz of falconer's flight

would this be considered a pale ale? am open to feedbacks to how this will turn out as i am learning the craft... been brewing for almost a year now. this is my 8th batch and of late i have ventured off trying to come out with my own recipe rather than following the book.

Typically pale ales don't have much pilsner. I made a few decent partial mashes with just light LME. Then just add a lb of crystal 40-60 to the rest of your steeping grains.

And personally I'd just leave it in the primary two weeks, then rack and DH.

You need to steep that about 60 min, probably sparge(rinse the grains) it with equal water @ 170 degrees. Or soak in a pot with equal water with 160-80 degree water. Around 150 degreees give or take, maybe 152 ish for mashing(same as steeping basically). 2 row is a base grain for conversion of starch to sugar meant for mashing which you just steep longer. It sounds pretty good really.Just steep it longer and rinse the grains with 180 degree water.
