how to program a love controller

    I have wired a love temperature controller TS-13010 version 2, May 2008.
    The programming instructions are not very clear.

    All that I get when I press [set] is a number that goes from -50 to 150 degrees.
    When I press [set] again it just goes back and forth between SP and that number.

    But there is no setting for r0, r1, r2 and so on. How do I get to these settings?

    When you see SP, push up or down to cycle through the menus. Once you get to r0 (or whatever one you want) push set again, and then change the parameter. After you are done programming hold set and Down, and that should bring you back to the main temp reading (or just let it sit for a min or two).

    If you hit set several times when you see SP does it do anything?

    Yeah, mine takes closer to 60 seconds. The 8 seconds is not right. Just keep holding until it flashes.

    Press SET for 8 seconds. The access code value
    00 is shown on the display. (Unit comes with
    code set at 00 from factory).
    • With the UP and DOWN arrows, code can be set to
    user needs.
    • Press SET to enter the code. If it is correct, the first
    parameter label is shown on the display (SP).
    • Move to the desired parameter with the UP and
    DOWN keys.

    I called Dwyer Instruments 219 879-8000 and talked with Eric, very helpful!
    He found the issue right away, what a relief.

    The key is to hold [set] for 8 seconds when the [probe temperature] is showing.

    I have refined the settings and the fridge conversion is working perfectly. This morning it ran for 8:05, then was off for 87:02. These times don't change much when the fridge is in use, as it is highly efficient. The temperature doesn't even move when the fridge is opened and closed several times in a row. My goal was to set a temperature range from 34 to 38 degrees, with as long between a minimum stop time as possible. This has been accomplished. I am very happy with the setup. Between the conversion and additional chest freezer, energy use is less than 30% of what it was with the refrigerator, and with a much greater capacity.

    sp > set point > the same as the low set point > 37 degrees
    ro > differential/hysteresis > 3 degrees (37 to 40)
    r1 > low set point > 37 degrees (continues to 33 degrees after off)
    r2 > high set point > 40 degrees
    do > cooling
    d2 > defrost time > 0
    d8 > defrost cycle > 24 hours
    c0 > minimum stop > 40 minutes
    c1 > cycle time > 0
    c2 > ? > 0
    c3 > ? > 0
    pl > probe adjustment > 0
    h5 > access code > 0
    to > maximum temperature > 50

    The love temperature controller clicks on at 40 degrees, off at 37, and the temperature continues downward to 33. This gives me an average of 36.5 degrees for the items in the fridge. Based on the run and cycle times, the fridge conversion costs $.60 a month to run, and the freezer costs $1.86.

    I put the love temperature controller probe into the chest freezer / fridge conversion from the top near the front.

    This creates a thin gap about 12 inches long on either side of the probe.

    If anyone knows of a better way to do this let me know.
