How much did your DIY FermChamber cost?

    Yeah, that's my question? How much did you spend making your own fermentation chamber? I was about to start on a FermChamber but I might go with an upright freezer instead...your thoughts?

    20 CF freezer on craigs list- $30, temp controller- $60, pc fan- $5, not having to mess with ice or temp monitoring- priceless.

    $60 - 16 cu.ft. chest freezer - craigslist
    $10 rustoleum brushon paint - Lowes
    $35 Johnson Controls A19 analog temp controller - ebay

    My mom gave me the little fridge (she had just bought it, then retired)

    Foam board - $23

    Already had the tape and caulk.

    Johnson Controller - $50

    So, $83 + labor

    ETA: Chi has temp controllers for about $35, now.

    I used a garment box from the movers.

    The second one was free, as it used to be my kegger and I inherited a controller when my brew-bud died.

    Upright fridge from grandparents - Free
    Thermostat from Menards - $35
    Light bulb to socket adapter 2 dollars

    Heating and cooling fermenting control for 10 or 5G batches- $37

    I guess I am the loser here, I actually bought my chest freezer new, 7CF for 168+tax, ranco thermostat $50, thermowells from Derrin $30 some lights laying around the house

    $275. $75 for a Ranco and $200 for one of these from craigslist:

    Fits 8 buckets/better bottles with ease.

    closet: included in rent
    Old thermostat: laying around
    Relay and various electrical stuff: Garbage picked
    Clamp lights: laying around
    Refrigeration: Provided by nature

    Fits 4 buckets/carboys atm, I may add another layer if I need it
    Its only gonna work till spring though so I may be investing in an old freezer or something

    Small refrigerator: free from a friend (CL probably $30)
    4x8 sheet of 3/8" Plywood for skin: $12
    Johnson temp controller: $40
    Sheet of melamine board for floor: $5
    Caulking: $4
    1.5" foam insulation board: $24
    Misc. Hardware: $5

    Total: $90 ($120 if you don't have the fridge)
