Hop Marker Contest

This is my first year all cascade garden. I only got an ounce out of them last year but hoping for a better yield in 2013.

I need to get in there and clear out some of those pesky traveling rhizomes.

Here are a few shots from this year. First year trying hop gardening! Fun to watch them grow!

My first year plants in their apartment-style balco-garden:

All the first year plants came off the second year plants as they tried to make their escape into the rest of the yard

Oh, and then I saved 12 dying Cascade plantlings from the clearance pile of a local garden store. They got added to the balco-garden:

 

First pick is pretty early in the season last year, and the second is a pic of a couple of pretty ones from this last summer.

Here is my hop garden. Picture taken today, 1/13/2013. I will trellis to the little used c-band antenna. Still trying to find out if I can grow hops in the southern tip of Texas.

 

First year cascade... And now I'm addicted! 2013 will be two second year cascade and two first year columbus in an above ground custom built planter.
