Well i pitched my yeast over 13 hours ago and still nothing. The pack never really swelled but there was a Krausen at the bottom of the starter and when i swirlled it by hand the airlock went nuts. Another thing i didn't consider was using mr. malty yeast calculator. My batch is about 5.35 gallons, it's an imperial stout with a gravity of 1.080 (ag). Mr. malty says i need 293 billion cells. Since the 1st smack pack didn't swell that much should i put two more smack packs or just put one. Also the yeast is 1028 London ale.

    Thanx :rockin:

The only problem I see, is that you're impatient.

    First, From the horse's mouth.

Secondly, http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/fermentation-can-take-24-72-hrs-show-visible-signs-43635/, and by visible signs we don't necessarily mean a bubbling airlock.
It IS a sticky at the top of the beginners forum for a reason, afterall. ;)

And 13 hours is STILL last I checked, less than 72 hours.

And the most important, is that you had fermentation during your starter...so unless you pitched the starter into your wort while it was still boiling, you WILL get fermentation.

    So relax...

For a brew that big, I would still have pitched two packs, maybe three.
