OK, so here's the deal.... I've found a few recipes, but some area all-grain, while others are extract or partial-grain. The recipe seems pretty straightforward, but I'm trying to get opinions from people who might have actually successfully cloned Rogue's Brutal IPA recipe. What worked? What didn't work?

I'm attempting to keep the recipe as much extract as possible, but I still want the taste of Brutal IPA more than anything... so taste takes priority.

I'm going to harvest the yeast out of some of Rogue's Brutal IPA (yay!), so I've got that covered. But what about the fermentables and crystal hops???? Is there one store that has everything I need in stock?? I've only found one or two stores that have the crystal hops in stock (will need at least a pound!!), so if you have additional online stores to recommend, that would GREATLY help me out.

    Thanks!!

If you can't find Crystal, a good alternative might be a 50/50 blend of Hallertauer and Mt. Hood. Mt. Hood and Crystal are both Hallertauer derivatives that exude slightly different takes on the character of the original hop

Yes, I am definitely NOT substituting any other hops in place of the crystal hops. Not even a consideration.

I'm really just curious about the fermentables.

Up until this point, I've only been doing 6 lbs bags of Light LME in a 5 gallon batch. That's it!!! And I don't believe that carrying that part over into the Brutal IPA recipe is going to work out, as I do not remember the Brutal IPA being a very malty beer.

I guess now is as good a time as ever to start the all-grain recipe...

... or should I just stick to extract w/ partial grain??
