Fresh Fish and IPA's :)

    Wife and kids left for the weekend so been enjoying my time alone :)

    Went fishing yesterday and we got a mess of saugeye and bluegill. Nothing like fresh fish and homebrew!!

    That's pretty much what we are having for dinner- but perch and homemade wine and beer. We'll have crabapple wine during dinner, but I pretty much drink beer except for one glass of wine.

    We're having a garden salad as well- the greens are beautiful.

    I forgot to take a photo! There were three of us- me, my husband, and our 20 month grandson.

    My grandson ate tons of the fish, probably more than my husband because it came out so great. I love fresh fish, especially fried!

    Your photos look so great- perfectly crispy!

    Wish we had perch here. Headed to st clair in a couple months so hopefully can bring a few back :)

    This reminds me of spending two weeks of summer vacation back when I was in school at the beach. My mom's boyfriend would rent a house and we'd surf-fish all day and eat what we caught - and then I'd sneak a few of his beers at night.

    Of course, the fish was awesome and the beer... was Goebel's.

    At least the fish was good.

    We used to like getting a couple 5 gallon buckets of fish on weekends for fish fries with chips. The kids loved how we'd have a big platter of fresh fried fish with another of chips with lemon, tartar sauce & malt vinegar. I was still able to walk normally at that point. After teaching my wife to fish, she now really misses those days. Gotta find a way to do it again...

    Fried fish and french fries, and pepperoni pizza, is how I learned to like IPAs. The dry crisp hop bitterness cuts oily/fatty foods.

    We just got back from a men's fishing trip and our group caught over 300 >10" crappies. I also brought a 3 gallon keg full of some fresh IPA. Nothing like fresh fish and good beer!
