Today was my first all grain batch and I forgot to do the starter. I know, I know...

Brew is a Founders Breakfast stout clone. OG is 1.088

My question.. I pitched a WLP001 into the brew. I have a dry Safale s-04.

Should I stop by the homebrew store tomorrow and grab another wlp100 or pitch the safale now?

    Thanks in advance.

Grab another WLP100 tomorrow. And be snappy about it. Sounds like an enviornment that you're Yeasties are going to be stressed in. They need buddies. :mug:

Do you mean WLP001? I don't find a 100 on the white labs site. If so, this is the chico strain which is the same as Wyeast 1056 and safale S-05. S-04 is an English strain w/ very different properties.( http://www.mrmalty.com/yeast.htm )

If this is the case, I would wait, see how fermentation goes (there will likely be a lag time as the yeastie beasties build their numbers), and if you feel it is necessary then pitch the same strain if not the exact same yeast.

    Good luck :mug:

    use that..

u need 17 grams of dry yeast

u need 314 million yeast cells for liquid yeast.- 2 vials 2.25 Liters of starter or you can build it till you get 3.8 Liters of starter from 1 vial..or buy 2 more vials haha. thats ridiculous tho too expensive go with dry yeast.

white labs gurantees 70-150 million yeast cells Im not sure of later one. I know 70 is the minimum. Buy another dry yeast packet, or just pitch 1. If you want to do it by the book what I said earlier.

regardless thats a hard starter beer, good luck. again go with dry, next time you make a big beer dont forget the starter.
