    Tomorrow I'm buying a basic kit £25
is this likely to contain all that I need to make my 1st home brew, and will I be able to add any flavours, like toffee to this kit?

Hard to say without the ingredient list, but if it is a simple Kit and Kilo, then I say you would probably be disappointed. Post the list and wait for us to advise you before you begin as to help you make the best brew possible with what you have.

Sounds like you bought an equipment kit. That should include everything you need to brew with the exception of the ingredients. In addition to the equipment you'll need either ingredients or an ingredient kit. As asked above, what is the list of stuff you bought? That'll help us help you. :)

You'll probably need to buy a cleaner and a sanitizer separately if you don't already have them

for 25 UK pounds, I bet it IS an ingredient kit with extract, steeping grains...everything but the bottles and brew gear.

To add 'toffee' flavors, you'd use various specialty grains, like crystal/caramel malt.
If you add real toffee, you'll be disappointed in what it adds.

That's about 40 US dollars. Could be something similar to Mr. Beer basic kit. Follow the directions, brew your first beer, then after a few brews, and an interest in adding your own twist to the extract recipe kits, come back, and read and read and read... then post questions if they weren't previously answered. That way you have a little experience under your belt so you know what the heck we refer to when we give you suggestions and answers.
