    Hi all.

I am scheming for my electric conversion. I want to build a setup that can be used with 220v and 110v. Right now i do not have 220v access but will in my future home. Is it possible to build a system that I can swap the plugs to change voltage.

I will have a PID controlled HLT for the herms coil. Boil kettle will be manual electric/propane hybrid.

I plan to use a 5500w 220 element, i am aware that it will turn into a lower watt output when used on 110.

I was planning on using heavier wire, appropriate for 220 demands. Also planning on using a 60a SSR

Has anyone else made a system like this?
Anything else i need to consider?

Use 4 wire 240V and create a 120V outlet off of that. You might want to contact your local electrician if you don't know what you're doing.

Do you want to change over once when you get access to 240v, or do you want to be able to go back and forth between 240v and 120v? There have been some discussions of that here previously.

i would prefer to switch back and forth. Would there be any negatives about hardwiring it with 240v appropriate hardware and running 120 through it using a different plug in?

    thanks again :mug:

There will be no problems setting it up for 220 an using 120. Just make sure you don't get 220 specific parts like pumps
