I wanted to give it a try and come up with my own extract recipe for a stout.

    I was thinking,
Steeping 1 # nocturnal grains from Northern Brewer

    6# dark LME
    2# dark DME

    1oz. Chinook @ 60 min.
    1oz UK Fuggle @ 15 min.

1 sachet of Danstar Nottingham Ale Yeast

2 weeks primary and 4 weeks in the secondary.

    SG 1.062 FG 1.014 ABV 6.25 IBU 30

This is my 5th extract batch. I was wondering if that is enough hops? And to much DME?

I think you're right in the ballpark. You may want to nudge the Chinook up to 1.25oz to get closer to 35 IBU, up to you.

Thanks for the info. Is there a reference to how much IBU should be in each style of beer? Or is it personal taste?
