Ferm Chamber / Serving fridge !

I just got a fridge and temp controller (Ebay) and began kegging.. it works great ! My problem is, as the weather gets warmer I'm going to need somewhere to ferment, and i'm currently not using the freezer space at all.

This design of fridge SEEMS to just cool the freezer space, and the cold air goes into the fridge compartment via a vent in the floor of the freezer. I'm assuming that the partition between the two is hollow, and contains at most a few wires..

MY PLAN : I'm going to remove the partition between the fridge and freezer (carefully in case theres something in there) and build a really insulated box at the bottom to hold my fermenting kegs, then stack my serving kegs on top of that. My thought is, if I put the temp probe in the insulated ferm chamber and set the temp at 60, the top of the fridge should be quite a bit cooler than that for serving..

Any reason that this won't work ??

I tried something similar but instead of a ferm. chamber on top I wanted to run my keg lines through the top. It ended up getting so cold it froze the line solid with the beer in it. You could run it and do a temp test and see what happens. It looks like you plan on making some alterations to the fridge though and it's way easier to convert a chest freezer or another fridge.. there's electrical lines that run through the middle of the fridge you'd have to reroute those.
