Considering adding a thermometer to my 10 gallon Bayou Classic brew kettle. Any suggestions on how to do it or what to use? If you've done it, how did it work out?
    Thanks

I've done it before with something like this:

The trick is getting a drill bit that will drill a hole into the stainless steel, which can be a pain. SS Brewtech also has some drill bits for drilling holes in stainless steel kettles. For mine, I had a metal worker friend drill them for me (he had the parts, took him a few minutes, did a cleaner job than I would have done). Hope this helps!

Start with a pilot drill hole about 1/8 inch, use lots of oil and a slow drill speed because the stainless is very hard. Then I used a step bit to enlarge the hole using more oil and again a slow drill speed.
