    Hi gang,

I read a lot of threads on the topic of hop filtering, but I can't say I really found the information I was looking for. I'm considering building a hop spider for when I use whole hops and I think it's solely to avoid the hassle of clogging my auto-siphon at later stages in the process. I have been able to remove 98% of the hops when racking to secondary, but I sacrifice a small amount of volume that makes it through.

My question is, will I lose anything by removing these hops from the wort? I definitely don't want to sacrifice quality for convenience.

    Thanks,
    Andy

I use a hop spyder now and can't notice any reduction in hop utilization or flavor in the finished product though I typically use pellet hops.
