Hello all. While the first brew on our new Brutus 20 electric system went really well, I did notice a much higher than expected boil off rate. When I was boiling in a turkey fryer I would boil off between three quarters and a full gallon in an hour. With the 5500 watt element, I boiled off almost two gallons. Since as I understand it more water volume is actually beneficial in a no sparge system, at least in an efficiency sense, I am not to worried. Should I be?

No reason to be worried as long as your MT and BK are large enough to start with a larger volume to get the desired finishing volume. Then you can simply plan for the extra gallon and you should hit your OG fine.

If you don't have the mash capacity for more volume, plan for a higher gravity wort and top off your fermenter.

Does your PID have manual mode to turn down the juice a bit?
