I used to use LME, and I asked here about the differences between LME and DME. You all said "DME, use DME!" so I gave it a shot.

Just snuck a taste of the APA I made (calling it Mighty Mo' APA) and MAN, no twang, light colored, all the stuff I was looking for.

    Thanks all.

From now on, all DME until next summer when I start AG (SWMBO wants me to spend some time doing it this way to make sure I stick with it).

I wouldn't worry about a time period to make sure you like the hobby. Just brew 300 gallons of beer in 2 months to show her you're in for the long haul. You'll have your AG equipment before the end of the summer!;)
