I make my first batch and bottled it but i think i over carbonated it becuase it take almost 20min for the damn head to settle down. is there anything i can do about it? its been bottled for about 3-4 weeks now. Ive heard about just opening it caps and then recapping but will this cause the beer to go flat?

try a more gentle pour. You dont want the head to go away completely.

I found letting the beer sit for more than 48 hours in the fridge helps. Try giving the bottle a slight jiggle 24hrs in so the CO2 dissolves in the beer. Your mileage may vary, but it works for me.

If none are exploding, don't worry and just drink it. To reduce the foaming, chill the beer down in the freezer before opening for about 5 minutes. Then open, pour, and if it too carbonated to drink let it sit out a few mins.
