    1 can Coopers Blonde
    500g dextrose
    500g Gold Light DME

    I'll brew a 22L batch.

Pitching as close to 20-23°C as I can
Fermentation will be 20° for 3 weeks, then bottled for 2weeks.

I'm only 5 brews in and feel this will be suffice for a light, easy drinking beer.

What if I brewed with 1000g of light DME, and didn't use any dextrose... What would my results be? An even better feeling beer? Or is 1000g DME too much?

I used to make up the Canadian Blonde kit to 23l with 500g of light DME and 700g of dextrose (so pretty close to what you did) and it made a pretty decent beer. The only reason I didn't go for a full kilo of DME is that it is very expensive where I live (currently $9.50 CDN for 500g). I can't imagine the extra 500g of DME (instead of dextrose) would do anything other than make the beer better.

I paid 5$ for 500g just at the local grocery store.

I'm just worried that the DME won't give me as much alcohol as dextrose.
I'm hoping someone can answer that.

I'll be researching the web for a while to try and find a 1000g 22-23litre brew

My first post in this topic was my recipe I was gonna go for.

I have completed the batch as follows.

    1000g gold light DME
    500g of dextrose
    Pitched yeast at 21°c
    21L total.

    First reading was 1.042
Can someone tell me if this is a good initial read? This is my first hydrometer test, and hope my ABV will be decent.

It should be accurate as long as you stirred the wort & top off water enough to mix them well before taking the sample.

The recipe OG would be 1.042, if the the can of Coopers Blonde LME was also included.
ABV will be about 3.95% if it ferments out to 1.012. Should be a really decent drinking beer.

If what you're saying is correct, then perfect! Very happy to hear that.

Yes, the whole can of coopers blonde was included
