    Hi all
My last two batches have been full wart pilsners. Dry hopped both and nether will clear after a month in the secondary. I added finings to both and the first batch did clear some, but cleared more after bottleing. But now I have chill haze. The beer is great except for the haze. The second batch, I added finings a week ago but this hasn't cleared at all. Thinking of racking into a doffent secondary but really don't want to oxidize the beer and not to keen on adding more finings.
    Uses isinglass for finings.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome Dwight,
    Here are some suggestions.

Chill haze is primarily caused by proteins and other contaminants. Try some irish moss at the end of the boil, minimize the use of high protein grains, chill your wort quickly before fermentation and pitch a nice size yeast starter to minimize any external contamination.

    Cheers!

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.
I bought this wart pre-made from Brewhouse. The other ward still in the secondary is from Festabrew, also pre-made.
Thaks for the suggetions. I think I will bottle it and hope it clears in the bottle. Need to make room in my carboy for the next brew.
The oatmeal stout is ready to bottle...gotta love stout!

Crash chill it to the low 30's after adding finings such as gelatin. This will drop out the chill haze as well as everything else and leave you with crystal clear beer. Of course you need a dedicated brewing fridge to be able to do this...
