My porter is fermenting in my carboy right now and was wondering what the best practice is to add the vanilla(4 beans-what I have been told) and the cherries(which have been fermenting in whisky for a little over a year now). I am new to brewing but really wanted to try this.

    Thanks in advance!

for a 5 gallon batch I always cut 3 Madagascar Vanilla beans down the middle, scrape the guts and cut the bean into small pieces. I soak guts and all in 3 oz. of Vodka during primary then add it to secondary.
