C02 cartridges for keg charger (8 gram vs 16 gram)

    I bought a 2.5 gallon keg system from rebel brewer:

    It came with a Co2 charger designed for 16 gram cartridges:

    I have 4 boxes of 8 gram Co2 cartridges

    I was wondering if anyone with a similar setup has tried to use cartridges of a different size. The main problem I foresee is that the 8 gram cartridges are much smaller, so I am thinking that I can just add something like stacked pennies or compressed cloth into the Co2 charger to make a snug fit. Let me know if you think it is worth trying. I am really most fearful of some sort of cartridge explosion or messing up a valve.
