this guy i found on craigslist has a 5 cft haier chest freezer for sale for $20. He said it still works fine, it just needs coolant. Has anyone ever had to refill coolant? If so, how do you go about it, and how much does it cost? Or, should i just stay away from this all together? It's like they say, "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is." Whats your opinion??

Im pretty sure he means it needs a refridgerant charge, which imo isnt worth buying. (why does it need that- ie: does it leak). sounds like its broke to me.

I agree - either it is relatively new and has a leak or it is old and you will find it difficult to find the matching coolant (older coolant has been phased out due to environmental regs).

    "Needs refrigerant" = "has leak"

It would suck to go through all that work building a keezer (collar, coffin, thermostat, etc) and find out a week later that it all leaked out again.
