    Hi

Got a homebrewing competition coming up and want to enter a Black IPA/Cascadian Dark Ale. They are using BJCP Style Guidelines.

Under what category should I enter it? Speciality Beer 23?

Yes. Be sure to say if it's English (14A), American (14B) or Imperial (14C) based.

Yes to entering it as category 23, but I definitely wouldn't list 14A (English IPA) as the base style. You'll get hammered for using American hops.

Well its the South African National Homebrewers Compitition.

Black ale was made with American and South African hops...

Guess it would be American based then.

    Thanks
