I originally posted the question in July of last year. Since several HBT members helped out with suggestions and advice, I thought a follow-up would be in order. I never specifically found the problem, but by listing all the known possibilities and following the correct procedures, I have made several batches and had no problems (at least no major problems). Many thanks to all who helped.

I think if you keep separate your brewing area from the baby and the diapers you will be fine....if you mean your time is taken up so much with the baby it affected your ability to brew with confidence then only you know how to schedule your time to prioritise your brewing demands and baby duty's...

You say you had 15 failed batches last time when your own baby was on the scene.....what do you personally think was the reasons for these failings?....was there a pattern to them?...now you have your grandchild on the scene you are worried the same thing will happen all over again....

But the thing is what do you mean by failings?...contaminated off flavours, stuck ferments?...the list is endless for what constitutes a failed home brew.....was there a pattern?...where they all the same sort of failures....

I would say as long as you wash your hands...sterilise and keep all your beer brewing equipment away from the general household area where the baby may be then you should be fine and i personally wouldn't stop brewing for this reason...

Why not try one brew and see how it goes.....maybe your luck will be different this time...one thing is for sure to 15 successive failures just when your original baby popped on the scene seems rather weird and whatever connection there is must be a simple one..like not washing your hands...or some other contamination or short sighted important issue you missed...

Make a brew!....keep everything spotless and separate from the baby and the diapers!..good luck my friend.

I have two in diapers and the only problem I have had is my hops times. I try to brew durng nap time but alway run longer so I end up haveing to run after kids and miss my time for hops by a few minutes. But beer has always been good.
