Just used my 3 gallon carboy for the first time for fermenting some Porter and after sanitizing the bung it would keep popping out of the carboy. What do you guys do? Thanks!

I take some tissue and dry off the bung and just the inside of the Carboy where the bung rests.

Denny Conn said on his podcast he wipes the rim of carboy and bung with a alcohol wipe.

Yep, it's the bung that NB suggests for a 3 gallon glass carboy. I'll try the alcohol swab next time. Thanks!

Yeah that happened to me a lot, then I figured out I need to keep the rubber bung dry before I put it in the carboy. After that no more popping out. One time the bung popped out and my wort got exposed to the air for like an hour and a half, I was freaking out but the beer came out just fine anyway.

Soo basically you're gonna have to make sure your bung is sanitized and dry before you're actually ready to use it

I use one of these: https://www.homebrewsupply.com/50mm-rubber-carboy-cap-1-hole.html

With the right size, it doesn't matter if the bung is wet or dry, slips right over the top of the carboy nicely. Just DON'T try to lift your carboy while holding onto this... it'll slip off...and you might cry over spilled wort... (don't ask me how I know) - carboy carrier straps keep me sane now.
