Has anyone ever drank their airlock after your batch is done? That is of course, if you use vodka rather than sanitizer. I just dumped mine out after cleaning up my last batch and started thinking it was probably pretty great - hop infused vodka! People are doing all kinds of crazy stuff with vodka these days - bacon infused, etc. Anyone every try it? Let me know, and BTW you probably have a drinking problem!

Since I use sanitizer for the airlock I think I wll skip taking it as a shot.

Hey, there's an idea....mix up something tasty but effective in the air lock for a celebratory shot after racking. I sometimes use a little Ron Botran 12 year in mine (because I always have some handy)....maybe I'll mix it a bit stronger next time!

I use water and like to give it a whiff. Free smells.

No, but this thread reminded me that I switched my saison from a blowoff tube to an airlock on Wendesday night but left my blowoff tube in the garage because my hands were full. I just took them in and cleaned them. As punishment I chugged the jug of sanitizer (okay, that last part is a lie).

Given the quality of vodka that I use, I'd rather not.

Yeah, I use store brand vodka that would probably strip the paint off the walls, so I'll skip willingly drinking it.

Not sure I'd trust the polymer material with spirits.

I never thought of it and probably wouldn't drink from the airlock. You asked the question first though - Did you dowqn the shot?

No I dumped it but it got me thinking about it, not really seriously, just kind of funny. Before I picked up cheap vodka I used to use absolut though...

I normally do drink it. My wife found a decent vodka on sale and bought a couple of bottles. It does taste like hops.

My brother left a handle of Sailor Jerry's at the house so I've been using that in my air locks. Every once in a while I'll drink what's left in the air lock after racking. I really don't like spiced rums, but I hate to waste it, plus free booze always tastes better.

Sailor Jerry is good stuff. I may start using that just for a celebratory bottling day shot. . . The star-san just hurt my stomach the last time I drank it.

It's food-grade plastic. It's as trustworthy as a plastic vodka bottle.

When I use vodka in the airlock I drink it, especially now that all I have on hand is an expensive bottle shaped like a skull that my wife bought

With hoppy beer it tastes like hopped-vodka...passable

With hefes, it tastes like sulfur...pass.

j/k, didn't know he was associated with the vodka, my wife is just a sucker for marketing and bought a fifth and a couple mini skull shot glasses in a set.

Anything wrong with pouring it into the bottling bucket?
