Airlock cap is missing???

    Brewed up a batch tonight, while sanitizing everything my airlock cap has gone missing somewhere. I wanna pitch tonight is there something i can use as a temp cap if i need anything at all till i get a one tomorrow at my LHBS? Thanks in advance..

    Try placing an extra stopper on top and position it so air escapes through the hole. It should be heavy enough to keep the floating piece from popping out.

    Or... Why not just use a blow-off? I start every batch with one. Better safe than sorry...

    If the blow off doesn't happen just use some tape over the top, leaving a slight gap to let CO2 out.

    Thanks for the quick replies, just pitched at 77 degrees and put the blow off tube on:) Perfect, now i can sleep tonight...lol

    I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago. Turns out a prescription bottle lid fits perfectly. Just tap a couple of holes in it.

    Just thought i would share a pic of it this morning, probably a good thing i lost the cap cause its only been about 9 hours into it and its reacting very well..Think i will start every one with a blow off tube and after she settles a bit replace with airlock. Thanks for the advace on that btw:)
