Ya guys don't have to make light of it.. it's an opportunity for free beer. You don't have to participate if you don't want to. The biggest part is "why you like the picture you picked" which there isn't much of yet... if its just a joke, we can end it now and go about the normal rambling.

Hey mine were serious. That's a pretty unique building that I haven't seen anything remotely close to anywhere else. And the Tesla monument is just awesome.
I'm for serious on trying an Irish Breakfast

Friendly friends make friendly banter, CAD. Seriously though -- nice of you to do a giveaway. I've never been to Buffalo so just taking the piss.

Did you read the description link? They compared the smoke to hints of bacon. That's duffman hook line and sinker lol. Haven't opened the bottle I picked up for myself yet. Might share it on Easter with friends. Always keep their special releases for a nice occasion. I need to make it up to see Tesla once the weather breaks.

I saw a PBS special that toured the Martin house and complex and really enjoyed it. His architecture doesn't appeal to everyone, but I am very much drawn in by it. One of the few things I've seen or read that would entice me to visit Buffalo (in addition to Ralph Wilson stadium) Thanks for the generosity of the share and pride in your town CAD! (I didn't elaborate at first because of stupid conference calls.)

That bottle has Duff written all over it lol
The Canadian side actually has the cool museum for Tesla you can visit. I don't know when the NY Telsa museum will be ready. I think they reached their crowdsourcing fundraiser goal for it, though

I know the Oatmeal pushed the funding to buy that site way over the top. I hadn't heard that funding for building the museum had been hit as well. That's definitely a place we'll take a weekend trip to visit.

Looking into it now, there haven't been a whole bunch of updates beyond the push to sell inscribed bricks to help with the fund raising, which ended on 12/31

No problem dude you know you're good. FLW was just forced upon us in every single architecture class, which I hated. I get it. He did big things. I understood that in 4th grade. Let me decide who I like now  I'd love to visit Fallingwater though, have you been?

Just a drive-by. Definitely would like to visit properly. And totally understand something being forced down your throat. That's how I came to hate the Cowboys. America's team? Really? When did we have that vote to decide?

I like historical facts. Buffalo was the first city to build street lights around 1886 due, in large part to the falls. Found out that this drove much of the innovation around the city in the early days. For more information http://ethw.org/Early_Electrification_of_Buffalo

I have no idea what's going on in here.

FWIW, there are no particularly cool looking pubs/brewpubs here.

That place is about 2 minutes from my work. Never seen the inside of it and have driven past it at least a few hundred times.

While lesser known than the iconic falls on the nation's border, Buffalo's greatest water/fire combo must be the Eternal Flame Falls in Shale Creek Preserve. Legend has it that the fire has burned since the Ice Age, when ancient Buffaloonians were drawn to its constant source of warmth and light. They keep the fire burning in their hearts to this day. Legend also has it that the light has never been extinguished, although in truth, occasionally a park ranger will have to sneak under the falls with a Zippo in the middle of the night.

    @TheCADJockey - have you been?

Don't have much to add, I know very little about Buffalo. Jim Kelly was a great competitor, and beat cancer. I think he's a good role model for people who like sports. People like iijakii.

I'm a fan of stupid people getting hurt, as long as they don't hurt others or get places shut down. Natural selection and all that. Dude you ready for some kickass weather or what??

Rofl this cracked me up.. you're good. It's funny when I realize our city hall isn't as recognizable to everyone else as it is to me. Right in the middle of your picture.

    Chuckle OL there.

    I wonder too.

They are good pictures and text. I appreciate the googling and organisational effort that went in here. I'm just jealous of your excellent entry.

CAD. I didn't mean to make a joke out of it. My aplogies. I think it's a stellar display of friendliness, generosity and home-pride.

I know nought about Buffalo save for what you have educated me on. My only interaction with and knowledge of the The Nickel City/City of light is the bits and bobs you post here in HBT and the cool links you have shared in the past.

I though it thusly fitting to post your right foot/sneaker, a fine looking stout in a Spigelau glass and a BIAB brew in progress. The latter 3 being things I have a passion for (one should not infer a dislike of your foot and sneaker).

I think it's almost time for lunch.

Spent the night puking my guts out. Still working and even logged in early for mandatory o/t. Washing some plain toast down with ginger ale in case I have to purge again so I'm not just dry heaving. Lovely Monday, eh friendly friends??
