This is a much simpler way to hook up a Beer Gun or Counter Pressure Bottle Filler.

The problem is that in order to use these bottle fillers, you need to have CO2 hooked up to the keg and the filler at the same time. In order to achieve this, most places will tell you that you need to modify your kegerator to accommodate your bottle filler. This usually involves installing a splitter on your regulator so you can have a dedicated CO2 line for your beer gun. Doesn't help you much if you want to use it on a friend's kegerator.

With this method, you modify your beer gun to work with ANY ball lock based kegerator and any ball lock keg.

Ready to dispense. Now you have equal pressure in the keg and in your beer gun.
No need to modify your regulator and install a dedicated line.
Will work on any ball lock keg with zero modifications to kegerators.

Very clever solution. What's the piece that you used to connect the gas quick disconnect to the splitter? Thanks!

It connects directly as one end of the splitter is a 1/4 inch flare female swivel nut. Otherwise if you had an all male end splitter you would have to a coupler

Just got a beer gun and was thinking about how much of a pain it's going to be to hook up to co2 -- this is the perfect solution. Thanks!

Metal on metal isn't very good at preventing O2 from leaking, so there needs to be something softer to form a proper seal. The quick disconnect has a plastic tip that acts as a seal. The keg post adapter has an o-ring between it and the keg post. Therefore you'll need one between the post adapter and the splitter, and one where you screw your tubing on. (Basically, anywhere there would otherwise be only metal on metal - both male ends)

Thanks. They were so cheap I ended up grabbing a few extra just to have on hand. Last of the parts should be here today or Monday actually. Can't wait to get it hooked up.

Stumbled upon this thread and this is amazing. My issue is ordering from multiple sources and paying almost as much for shipping than the parts themselves.

Has anyone had any luck locating all the parts at one place/site?

I can't seem to source this one component:
    1/4 MFL Splitter/Tee

Can you please provide a link to this on the CHI site?

Did I read correctly on the first post that no regulator adjustments are required? So I can keep my regulator at 14psi and fill bottles? I don't currently have a Beer Gun but this hack might convince me to get one.

Also, can someone post direct links from that CHI Company site?

    thx

I found that using my beer gun with anything over 3 psi to push the beer creates a foamy mess and low carbonation beer in the bottle. Is this not a problem with this setup?

10'+ liquid line at 12 psi with never an issue. I'm going to try this mod. That will save a me using an extra co2 tank.

Edit. I should have stated, when I bottle I freeze the bottles and the gun with the line before I start.

The links for the parts in the original post are broken. Here is a parts list all from one company and with all the links working (as of September 30, 2015). Since the parts haven't arrived yet I can't be certain that everything is correct but I think it is:

    Gas in corny post: http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=376_1_3_260&products_id=1135

    post adaptor: http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=376_1_3_260&products_id=1137
MFL tee with one female: http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=375_19_220_285&products_id=489

    ball lock connector: http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=376_1_3_7&products_id=7

What I meant was that you don't need to physically modify your regulator by adding new connections or splitters.

You should still lower your PSI

Corrected parts list. I received a phone call from the Chi Company saying that the adaptor that I ordered would not fit the connector and if I wanted them to fit they would change the order.

Now that is some great service.

I have changed the part number on my parts list (a couple of posts down).

Why is this not a sticky.

Gotta be one of the cleverest builds out there. If any Mods are on the thread. One vote for sticky-if-ying this..

    Thank you @itsgus

Just ordered my parts for this. I was getting annoyed of my DIY counter-pressure filler and finally just ordered The Last Straw Bottle Filler from NorthernBrewer. Supposed to be a little improved than the BeerGun. Hoping this little setup makes it much easier to bottle brews. I have been stingy to my friends lately as bottling has always been so annoying to me!

I am little confused. Your parts list has links to two gas in post... One with 19/32"-18 threads and the other with 9/16"-18 threads. You don't need something like http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1145?

Can you also confirm that the 2 of the 1/4" washers are needed: 04E04291ih?
