I pray that my words fall on the Beer God's ears here, and they have patience and sympathy with my stupidity and pass their knowledge on to educate me:

How much is the minimum amount of square feet a 7 bbl brew system would require in a brewpub?

    Am I correct about this:
You brew 7 bbl in the kettle.
Transfer to the fermentor (7bbl size?).
After fermentation complete you transfer to a brite tank to carbonate?
Move to 7bbl serving tank to hold and serve (connected to tap) as well as make more room to brew again.
If you want more room to store beer, you simply buy more serving tanks?
If one was to purchase such a system, are their companies that come and install all of this, or does it show up on your door in pieces and a nice pat on the back?:mug:

There are just too many variations to answer that question. But I can tell you that at brewpub where I go for a pint, they use:

    7 bbl hot liquor tank
    7 bbl kettle
    300-gall mash tun
    1x 14-bbl fermenter (for double-batches)
    2x 7-bbl fermenters.
5-7 bright beer tanks (I never counted).

Then you have glycol tank, control panel, hook-up panel, CO2 tank, etc.

Don't forget that the tighter the space, the more crowded you are, and the more likely you are to have an accident.

Yes, there are guys that will come and set-up your system. There's a large amount of plumbing, electricity, gas, steam (etc) that need to be installed. It's just not a guy on his deck brewing beer! :)

I know that some of the suppliers will do the install for you or you can choose to have a custom system shipped to you. here is just one company that does the install: http://www.sbp-breweries.com/

as a point of reference, this article has a picture of the space that a 5 hectolitre brewery is about to be installed in.

I think that translates to a little over 4 bbls in American ;)
